More than 70 percent of respondents to a survey aimed at members of the LGBTQ+ community in Clare say they’ve faced discrimination based on their gender identity or sexual orientation.
The poll was conducted as a result of a short term project called LGTBQ+ Clare last month.
Nearly a third of respondents claimed their sexual orientation or gender identity was not understood when they engaged with existing services in this county.

Meabh Sexton, of the LGBTQ+ Clare group, is hopeful members of the community can become more prominent in this county going forward.
