The Chair of the local authority’s Rural Development Committee has rejected any suggestion that Clare has been snubbed in successive announcements of funding under the Rural Regeneration and Development Fund.
51 projects nationwide have been awarded over €94 million in funding under the scheme in three seperate announcements since the current government came to office.
However, none of those are in Clare, although an additional quarter of a million was allocated to the Vandeleur Walled Gardens in Kilrush to allow for previously-announced works there to continue.

Maghera Councillor Pat Hayes accepts it’s disappointing when projects don’t get over the line, but he believes Clare has received significant supports in other announcements.
