Shannon Chamber And Business Groups Pursue Supports For Airport

Shannon Chamber and the Irish Hotels Federation (IHF) in conjunction with Ennis, Limerick and Galway Chambers, are continuing their calls for a new funding model for regional airports.

They’ve already argued that the airports – with a focus on Shannon of course – need multi-year capital expenditure support, a fixed euro amount per passenger to subsidise airport
charges for airlines, and the provision of a regional route marketing fund.

Last week, they presented more detailed plans to Minister of State Hildegarde Naughton and Department of Transport officials, and later this month they will address regional Oireachtas in a bid to canvass their support.

On Tuesday’s Morning Focus, Gavin Grace spoke to Kevin Thompstone from Shannon Chamber.
