Concerns Raised About Pupils’ Safety Near Newmarket-On-Fergus Road

Concerns are being raised about the safety of national school pupils due to insufficient road safety measures in Newmarket On Fergus.

Stonehall National School has a concealed entrance, with a meeting of Shannon Municipal District councillors hearing this week that the road requires rubber strips and warning lights on approach.

Clare County Council has agreed to carry out a traffic survey in the area once COVID restrictions allow, and has pledged to work with the school to advance traffic management works.

Fianna Fail councillor, Pat McMahon, says the works are needed as a priority.
