A Clare auctioneer says a lack of housing supply in this county compared to other areas is causing rental price hikes here to be among the highest in the country.
It comes after a new report from the Residential Tenancies Board, showed Clare rents rose by more than 11 per cent between March 2020 and the same month this year – the second highest percentage increase in the country, behind only Kilkenny.
The average standardised rent in Clare, now stands at 850 euro according to the RTB – that’s up from 764 euro during the same time-frame last year.
Diarmuid McMahon, of Sherry Fitzgerald McMahon Auctioneers in Ennis, says Clare isn’t seeing a surge of new property construction that’s being seen elsewhere.
