Clare’s Crime Prevention Office is warning of another national phone scam, where fraudsters are now claiming to be members of An Garda Siochána.
There are several stages to the scam, which begins with an automated message that prompts people to select an option, followin which a person claims to be a Garda member seeking details or informing the person that their details have been linked to a crime.
Gardaí say the calls appear to be the number of a genuine Garda station but are warning that they will never make contact with members of the public in this way.
