There are fresh calls in the Midwest for nominated partners to have the right to support mothers at maternity hospitals.
It comes as after Aontu submitted its Maternity Care Bill to the Dail.
If enacted, the legislation would ensure that mothers receiving maternity care could be accompanied during childbirth and on occasions prior and subsequent to the birth by their nominated partner.
