Organisers Of Clare’s First Post-Pandemic Indoor Event Waiting With Baited Breath For Restrictions Roadmap

The organisers of Clare’s first indoor live event since the onset of the pandemic say they’re waiting with bated breath for the roadmap out of restrictions.

The Taoiseach is expected to announce the end of Covid restrictions on October 22nd, when he addresses the nation this evening.

The 22nd of October will be the closest day to normality we’ve had since the beginning of the pandemic.

The Taoiseach is expected to announce later that all covid restrictions will be lifted by that date, with the Government’s reopening roadmap seeing a move away from policed restrictions and towards personal responsibility.

From Monday September 6th, increased numbers will be allowed at both indoor and outdoor events, live music can be INDOORS at weddings and in bars and communions and confirmations will no longer be advised against.

Cathal Molloy from the Wedding Bands Association of Ireland welcomes the move, but they’ll hope to get this weekend as well.

From September 20th, the advice to work remotely where possible will dissolve, meaning you may be back in the office.

But it’s not just an exciting day for adults, indoor activities for children such as dance classes and speech and drama can resume.

Digital covid certs will likely be required for indoor events, but come October 22nd, they’ll no longer be required at all unless travelling abroad.

Nightclubs will likely be the last to open, with Government planning to run a pilot event in September.

NPHET member Mary Favier says vaccines have helped in moving forward with the easing of restrictions.

The organisers of Clare’s first live indoor event say they’re anxiously waiting for the details to be confirmed.

The Concerntine Cruinniú, which has been held annually in Miltown Malbay since 2013, is a community non-commercial event organised by Oidhreacht an Chláir.

Maureen Kilduff is a member of the Organising Committee and she says they’re remaining hopful that a larger group will be able to take part.

The Cabinet meets at 2pm to sign off on the roadmap, before the Taoiseach formally announces the plan this evening.
