There’s been another spike in overcrowding at the region’s main hospital over the weekend.
61 people are waiting for a bed at University Hospital Limerick today according to the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation – a jump from the 36 recorded on Friday.
46 of these patients are in the emergency department, with a further 15 in overflow areas of wards.

UHL is the most overcrowded facility in the country today, on a day when the 464 people waiting for a bed nationwide is the highest number recorded since the beginning of the pandemic.
