It’s claimed some students attending university in the Midwest have been sleeping on floors and couches this week, as they struggle to secure accommodation for the college term.
A lack of housing supply coupled with increased demand has led to a shortage of available rooms for students this year in particular, with some landlords offering substandard accommodation.
One such example advertised in Castletroy in Limerick, includes two bunk beds cramped into a kitchenette.

President of the UL Students’ Life, Cillian O’Donoghue, who’s from Ennis, says students are becoming really stressed over the issue.
