74 On Trolleys At University Hospital Limerick

The level of overcrowding at the region’s main hospital remains the highest in the country.

The latest figures from the INMO show 74 people were waiting for beds at University Hospital Limerick this morning, 40 of those in the emergency Department.

The overall figure is almost double the next busiest facility.

It comes as four wards remain closed on the back of an outbreak of Covid-19 at the Dooradoyle facility.

There are 43 people being treated for the virus at the hospital today, up 1 on yesterday’s figure, with 6 in intensive care.
