Irish Rail CEO Confident Ballycar Flooding Issue Will Be Resolved

The CEO of Irish Rail has expressed confidence that flooding issues at Ballycar will be resolved.

There have been ongoing calls for investment to secure the future of the Ennis-Limerick rail line, after adverse weather has led to a section of the route near Newmarket on Fergus being closed for long periods during successive winters.

The Government this week announced its National Development Plan which has signalled the delivery of a rail link from Limerick to Shannon Airport, which will connect on to Ennis.

Asked if this is viable given the issues faced at Ballycar, Cooraclare native Jim Meade has said that he expects both projects to progress.
