Irish Water Admit Ongoing Sewerage Issues At Ballyvaughan And Kilkee “Unacceptable”

Irish Water acknowledges that raw sewerage still being discharged into the ocean from Ballyvaughan and Kilkee on a daily basis is unacceptable.

It comes in the wake of the publication of the Environmental Protection Agency’s Wastewater Report for 2020 which identifies the significant delays to completion of works at both sites as ‘extremely concerning’ and ‘prolonging a significant risk to public health’.

While upgrades to wastewater infrastructure in Clarecastle, Kilrush and Liscannor will be completed by 2023, Ballyvaughan and Kilkee will be waiting until 2024 and 2025 respectively.
