Retired School Bus Driver Says Increasing Capacity Amid Rising Cases Makes No Sense

A retired bus driver in Ennis feels the decision to increase capacity on school transport while cases among children continue to rise makes ‘no sense’.

Post-primary school buses returned to 100% capacity this morning, following correspondence from Bus Éireann with local operators.

It comes as over 3,500 cases were confirmed in the two weeks up to last Thursday in the 13-18 year old category.

Mickey Guilfoyle, who drove for St. Anne’s Special School in Ennis and a number of mainstream schools across the county, says that a shortage of driver may be responsible for the return to full capacity.
