A Shannon GP says the suggestion that doctors could provide primary school pupils with mask exemptions in some cases is ‘premature’.
Education Minister Norma Foley has said children aged over 9 who cannot wear face coverings will need signed notes from practitioners.
It’s understood the majority of new cases locally are in young children in line with national figures.
