The ESB is warning households in Clare that lose power this evening may have to wait until tomorrow for it to be restored.
More than 2,500 customers are understood to be without power already this evening in the West of the county in areas such as Miltown Malbay, Kilkee and Quilty, with a further 76 customers impacted in the Cratloe area.
Ennistymon has also recorded outages this evening.

The utility is bracing itself for what it describes as ‘significant damage’ to power lines across the county as the status red warning comes into effect.
Siobhan Wynne from ESB Networks is appealing to the people of Clare to be patient, with crews working throughout the adverse conditions.
