Expect ‘Significant Damage’ In Clare Once Red Warning Comes Into Effect

The ESB says it expects ‘significant damage’ to occur throughout Clare once the red warning comes into effect later this afternoon.

Around 100 customers are understood to be without power this lunchtime in the West of the county, with that number expected to rise significantly throughout the day.

41 customers in Kilkee are believed to be in line to have power restored by 4:45, with 18 customers in Kilrush estimated to be waiting until around the same time.

37 households in the Kilbaha area may be waiting until after 6pm this evening to have power restored.

More than 1,600 customers in the Kilkee and Cratloe areas were without power for a time this morning but the majority of them had it restored a short time later.

Speaking with Clare FM’s Josh Prenderville, Siobhan Wynne from ESB Networks says there’s a possibility that customers who’ve had their power restored may yet lose it again as conditions worsen.
