The number of assaults by patients on staff at Ennis General almost halved last year.
HSE Mid West Figures show 14 verbal and physical incidents were recorded at Clare’s County Hospital in 2008, compared to 24 the previous year.

Ennis General also spent almost 372 thousand euro on hospital security in 2007, up from 184 thousand the previous year.
However the money spent last year on securing the premises fell back to almost 244 thousand euro.
