Opposition to possible Sale of Inagh Dump

Officials from Clare County Council are coming under fire for considering proposals to close down or sell the Waste Management Facility at Inagh.

The facility at Ballyduffbeg in Inagh cost 11 million euro and is making a loss for the local authority.

The amount of waste going to the dump in Inagh has fallen dramatically in the last eight months and an internal memo by senior engineers say that the Council need to consider their options.

However, Independent Councillor Patricia McCarthy is vehemently opposed to selling or closing down the facility without the input of the elected members
