Hopes for some Aer Lingus Shannon Transatlantic Jobs

There’s hope Aer Lingus Transatlantic services in the Mid West could escape the proposed mass cull

During a meeting with public representatives from Clare senior management at the former state carrier said they’re open to maintaining services at their base in Shannon.

The airline announced redundancies of 102 cabin crew at Shannon and reduced hours for ground handling staff as part of their cost saving plans to save 130 million euro.

There’s now a 6 week consultation period between unions and the company on the plan which involves 676 job cuts overall

Fianna Fail TD Timmy Dooley who met with Aer Lingus management said they stressed the importance of saving money but were open to other methods and the retention of transatlantic services in the Mid West.
