Schools, social welfare offices and some health services in Clare such as the swine flu clinic in Ennis are closed today as part of a nationwide one day strike.
The action by public sector workers is in response to the government’s plans to cut over a billion euro of the public pay bill in the budget.
However emergency health staff and local government workers involved in the flood relief operation in Clare are not taking part in today’s protest.
