Dozens of homes in the Shannon Banks/ Springfield areas were evacuated overnight due to rising floodwaters in South East Clare.
The emergency services including the Army have been on high alert since the ESB released water from the Parteen Weir yesterday due to unprecedented water levels in the Shannon.
Over 4000 sandbags have been delivered to the worst affected areas and the situation is still being monitored due to further rain forecast and the possible release of further dam water today by the ESB.
