Almost quarter of a million US troops passed through Shannon this year up to the end of November.
Figures released by the Transport Minister Noel Dempsey show that 243, 366 soldiers passed through the Mid West Airport on 1,838 flights.
It’s expected that the total number for the year will exceed 2008’s total of just over 256 thousand.
