Efforts to re-open the mart in Sixmilebridge will begin at a meeting in Kilmurray this evening.
The mart closed on Saturday last after 40 years of operation in Sixmilebridge, with owners Golden Vale describing the business as being no longer viable.
Tonight the local IFA branch will meet in the Pumphouse bar with a view to establishing the level of interest in forming a local co-op to run a weekly mart, or to come to some agreement with Golden Vale.
