The value of drugs seized at Shannon Airport fell sharply by over 36 percent in 2009.
Figures released by Customs and Revenue reveal that over 258 thousand euro worth of illegal substances were seized by officers at the Mid West Airport last year. down from over 407 thousand euro.
The largest drop was in herbal cannabis from 181 thousand to 87, while the value of cocaine seized also fell significantly but the quantity of amphetamines discovered, increased from 45 euro to over 15 hundred.
