File to DPP on violent row in Newmarket

A 21 year old being quizzed by Shannon Gardaí over a violent incident outside a house in Newmarket on Fergus has been released from custody.

A 19 year old man suffered stab wounds to the head and a 20 year old woman was assaulted after a row broke out after a christening party yesterday morning at a housing estate in the village.

The two were treated for their injuries in hospital.

A 21 year was arrested and taken to Shannon Gardaí station for questioning but has since been released without charge but a file is being prepared for the DPP.

A Garda spokesperson says the investigations ongoing and they are appealing for witnesses to the incident.
