Substantial volume of water lost through consumer leakage

Clare County Council has re-iterated its calls to conserve water and to check for leaks as many parts of the county continue to go without water during parts of the day and night.

The local authority says "a substantial volume of the unaccounted for water is being lost through consumer side leakage and normal services will not be restored until this is addressed"

Communities in Tulla, Westbury and Shannon remain among the worst affected areas as the Council’s Water Services Section continues efforts to locate and repair leaks and bursts on public water mains throughout the County.

The Council is appealing once again to all property owners to inspect their premises and take the appropriate action to address leakage or waste – which may involve hiring a plumber.

Meanwhile ongoing restrictions continue during day and night time hours in the areas of Tulla and Shannon.

Pressure problems and overnight restrictions are also in place in Westbury, Shannon Banks, Parteen and Clonlara.

Ongoing night-time Restrictions are still impacting on communities in  Killaloe,  O’Callaghan’s Mills,  Broadford,  Sixmilebridge, Ruan and Corofin,  Ennistymon, Lahinch, Liscannor, Lisdoonvarna,  Scarriff and Tuamgraney,  Newmarket on Fergus,  Cratloe and Bunratty, Kilmurray and Kilkishen and in the Acha Bhile estate in Ennis.

The council is also advising householders to beware of bogus callers purporting to be Council Officials or working on behalf of the Council and say all Council Officials have proper identification which can be checked with the local authority.
