Bishop Willie Appeal for people of Haiti

The people of Clare are being asked to support Earthquake relief efforts in Haiti, with collections to take place in all parishes in the diocese of Killaloe this week.

The Bishop of Killaloe has asked all parishes across the Diocese to arrange opportunities for parishioners to contribute to the relief of the people of Haiti whose lives have been torn apart by the last week’s earthquake and each parish will organise a collection as people leave masses this weekend.

In a statement to Clare FM, Bishop Willie Walsh said media reports during the past week have touched all of us with their depiction of the suffering endured by the people of Haiti in the wake of one of the biggest and most destructive earthquakes in many years.

Bishop Willie also acknowledged that many people have already contributed to various charities that are helping in Haiti but said this Sundays appeal will give a convenient opportunity to those who may not have already done so.
