Impact warns of further possible strikes at Shannon Airport

Air Traffic Controllers at Shannon Airport are warning that further industrial action is inevitable if staff suspended by the Irish Aviation Authority aren’t reinstated.

Flights at the Mid West Airport ground to a halt for four hours yesterday while the Impact workers staged a stoppage in protest at the suspensions.

It was a similar situation at Cork and Dublin and over 150 flights were cancelled and 20 thousand passengers affected.

Impact is set to meet today to discuss their next move and have warned further strikes are possible.

It insists the row centres on the suspended staff, 7 in Shannon and 7 in Dublin but the Irish Aviation Authority says its rests on issues surrounding pay and pensions.
