Community vigilance is being urged once more, following the latest criminal scam in Clare.
An investigation is continuing in West Clare following an incident in which a man posing as a member of the Gardai tried to gain access to a house in Kilkee to demand money from its elderly occupant.
It follows similar investigations by Gardai in Killaloe and Limerick into robberies in Tulla and Clonlara where criminals posed as council officials to enter the homes of elderly residents before escaping with cash.

Clare Crime Prevention Officer Sergeant Joe Downey says people should confirm the identification of any unknown visitors to their homes before letting them in.
