Dempsey Told To Come To Clare

The Transport Minister is being asked to visit Clare to see for himself, whether extra funding is required to repair the county’s roads.

With a bill of 8 million euro facing the council for flood and frost related road damage, and a definite "no" to requests for extra money, Clare County Council is now calling for a meeting with Minister Noel Dempsey to discuss the issue.

Members have also expressed the wish that Minister Dempsey would meet them at Shannon Airport to highlight the need for greater promotion and development of flights there.

Kilrush Councillor Gabriel Keating says that extra road allocations from the Minister are vital for local tourism.
