There’s some good news for Ryanair flights from Shannon, despite the airline’s plans to withdraw up to 75% of its services next month.
The controversial low fares airline has confirmed it’s to continue operating flights from Shannon To Liverpool and Edinburgh while a number of other European services will continue throughout the summer months.
Ryanair is set to withdraw three quarters of its Shannon services by the end of march, basing just one plane there, following failure to reach a new deal on lower landing charges with Shannon Airport management, and the abolition of the travel tax with the government.
But there’s some new hope on the horizon for Shannon’s shothaul services with news that Ryanair has reversed a decision to withdraw its services from Shannon to Liverpool and Edinburgh which will continue to operate on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays during the summer.
The news has been confirmed to Clare Fianna Fail TD Tony Killeen who’s also welcomed Ryanair’s confirmation that it will continue to operate services to London Gatwick, London Stansted, Malaga, Nantes, Palma, Paris Beauvais, Tenerife and Wroclaw up to the end of the end of summer 2010 at least.
