Boundary committee told no justification for extension into Clare

The committee considering a possible boundary change between Clare and Limerick has been told there’s no justification for such a move and the people of Clare are against it.

The Limerick Local Government Committee, headed by businessman Denis Brosnan, met with the Mayor of Clare and County Manager yesterday, along with a Clare County Council delegation to discuss the ongoing review of local government structures in Limerick City.

Details of the private meeting are not being disclosed for now, but Clare Councillors were given an opportunity to outline their submission to the committee which includes staunch opposition to any boundary extension into South East Clare.

Clonlara Councillor Cathal Crowe says the meeting was frank and productive and feels that Clare concerns are being taken on board.
