Clare Shock over Dublin murder

Gardai have been given more time to quiz a man over the death of 30 year old Helen Donegan whose mother lives in Kildysart.

The local community’s in shock after it was confirmed that the remains of the woman found in the boot of a car in Dublin were that of the mother of one who herself lived in West Clare for a time.

Mother of one Helen Donegan was missing for almost seven weeks when her badly decomposed remains were discovered in the boot of a car at a lock up in West Dublin last Tuesday.

Gardai confirmed the 30 year old has been shot.

The news has shocked the community of Kildysart where Ms Donegan’s mother lives along with the murdered woman’s young son.

Liz Donegan is originally from Ballyfermot but moved to the West Clare Village a number of years ago.

Her daughter also lived in Kildysart for a time and worked locally during the summers.

A 45 year old man was arrested shortly after the discovery of Ms Donegan’s body and last night gardaí were granted permission to extend his period of detention.
