ESB To Outline Ways To Rectify Moneypoint Licence Breaches

The ESB Power station at Moneypoint has been given until next week to outline ways to rectify breaches of its licence following local concerns in Killimer regarding ash clouds and thick black smoke.

The Environmental Protection Agency has found the West Clare electricity generating station to be non compliant on a number of grounds during a site inspection in July, which followed complaints by local residents.

Residents living close to the Moneypoint alerted the EPA to ash landing on their homes following a dry spell on July 4th and in the inspection report seen by Clare FM, environmental inspectors share local concerns about the time taken to dampen down the ash landfill at the site with water and prevent such dust clouds.
