Fears Shannon water plunder could be devastating for Clare

A group which aims to stop the pumping of millions of litres of water from Lough Derg to Dublin say the plan could have devastating consequences for Clare

Dublin City Council plans to take up to 500 million litres of water a day from the River at a site near Terryglass in Tipperary, in order to address shortages of supply in the capital.

They say this will only be done at times of high flow or during flood periods, but the plan has been met with opposition by the Shannon Protection Alliance
