Emergency services in Ennis River Rescue

A man’s recovering after a fall into the River Fergus in Ennis while reported trying to evade gardaí.

The alarm was raised at around 6.30 yesterday evening after the 25 year old is understood to have gone over a 15 foot wall at Woodquay but landed on a ledge just inches away the river which drops to a depth of 15ft.

Fire personnel had to climb down ladders to secure the casualty before he was immobilized and lifted to safety on a stretcher.

The man was treated at the scene before being removed to hospital for treatment.
