Superintendent backs mediation in Ennis feud

Ennis’ new superintendent has backed mediation efforts to try and resolve the long standing feud between a number of  traveller families in Clare’s County town

A professional mediator, who worked on the Northern Peace Process has been employed to try and diffuse the long running dispute which has resulted in a number of violent and bloody incidents including an attack on a man near a national school in broad daylight.

Superintendent Peter Duff, who was appointed from Ennistymon, following the transfer of John Scanlon to Limerick believes a mediator can assist in resolving a lot of issues but that gardaí will continue to fully investigate any criminal act.
