Ennis Crime Figures raised

It’s claimed that Ennis is the worst location in Ireland for criminal activity- outside of the four main cities.

Statistics on prosecutions obtained by today’s Sunday Tribune show that there were 12 thousand criminal cases before the district court in Clare’s County town in 2009.

However, overall this only represents 2.6 percent of the nearly half a million cases heard nationwide last year.

The biggest case-load of criminal offences were heard in the Dublin courts from murder to public order offences with almost 200,000 hearings in all.

Cork made up 11.6 percent of the total cases, followed by Limerick and then Galway.

The safety part of the country in relation to the number of cases brought was Doire on Fheich in County Galway which recorded just 1,262 hearings in 2009
