An investigation’s under way into the theft of a laptop at Ennis General Hospital which reportedly contained confidential patient information.

The desktop computer was taken from an office at the rear of the hospital during a break in late last Tuesday night or early on Wednesday morning.
Gardaí the HSE and the Data Protection Commissioner are investigating the theft however its not known how much personal patient data was on the computer or whether the machine was encrypted.
