Inquest into death of Clare trainee pilot

 

 

An inquest into a fatal plane crash which claimed the life of a Clare trainee pilot has called for changes in the procedures operated at flight training academies.

Dermot Sheridan from Blackwater who was studying for his private pilot’s licence along with his instructor Colm Clancy were killed on a training flight in Kildare on the 1st April 2009.

However the wreckage and the remains of the two men weren’t discovered until the following day.

Yesterday a jury of five men and one woman returned a verdict of accidental death and made four recommendations including that all training academies should remain open until all aircraft have returned or been accounted for
