Water Situation Latest

Clare County Council has issued the following statement this evening.

 

Demand for water is exceeding supply capability on most water supplies in the County.

The Council is aware that many areas are without water. 

In order to conserve the supply the council is taking the following actions

WATER WILL BE CUT OFF UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE AT THE FOLLOWING LOCATIONS AND AT THE TIME SPECIFIED:

Doora, Barefield, Crusheen, Lahinch Road, Shanaway Road. Clare Road(area around St Flannan College) Tulla Road including Spancilhill Group Water Scheme and Gort Road Ennis from 10.00pm to 7.00am

Shannon, Newmarket on Fergus, Sixmilebridge, Kilmurray, Kilkishen, Quin and Tulla from 8.00pm to 8.00am

Water will also be off in Tulla on Wednesday 29th December 2010 from 2.00pm to 6.pm for essential repairs

Clonlara, Broadford, Shannon Banks, Westbury, Parteen, Ardnacrusha, Carraig Midhe, Coolisteigue from 7.00pm to 9.00am

Ballyvaughan, Miltown Malbay, Corofin, Ruan, Ennistymon, Lahinch, Licannor, Lisdoonvarna, Doolin and Fanore from 11.30pm to 8.00am

Standpipes will continue to operate at the usual locations in Ennis/Clarecastle, Shannon, Sixmilbridge, Westbury and Tulla.  A Water Tanker will also be available at the Shannon Fire Station on Wednesday 29th December 2010 from 10.00 am to 12 noon.

Water Supplies will also be provided in Quin at the Church from 10.00am to 12.00 noon, Lahinch Prom from 2.00pm to 4.00pm and Ruan Village from 3.30pm to 4.30pm and Doora Church from 2.00 pm to 3.00pm on Wednesday 29th December 2010

The Emergency number (087) 4169496 will be in operation from 5.00pm Tuesday 28th December to 9.30 am Wednesday 29th December.  The councils main number (065) 6821616 will be operation from 9.30am to 5.00pm Wednesday 29th December 2010.

Only EMERGENCY calls should be made to these numbers.  The council is aware that many areas are without water. Because of the volume of calls being received the council cannot guarantee that each call can be answered for which we apologise in advance.

Meanwhile, Kilmaley Inagh Group Water Scheme are asking its members to please conserve water. It is imperative that all members check their connections for leakage and repair immediately. Restrictions on supply will commence tonight from 8am to 8pm in many areas including Inch, Kilrush Road, Kilmaley, Inagh and Kilnamona. These restrictions will continue over the coming nights until storage reservoirs recover.
