The son of former Irish President and Spanish Point native Patrick Hillery has announced he will put himself forward as a possible Fianna Fail candidate for the upcoming general election.
Speaking to Clare FM last night Dr John Hillery confirmed he will be seeking the nod from delegates at the party’s selection convention this weekend.
Many others have ruled themselves out but other names like Ennis Councillor Pat Daly, Spanish Point Principal Mary Crawford and former Councillor Flan Garvey are also among the long list suggested to join Timmy Dooley on the party ticket.
Clare Fianna Fail PRO Michael McTigue believes the party will select two candidates this Sunday and says the list of possible names is proof of a strong interest in the party locally
