Killeen backs Taoiseach ahead of crunch confidence vote

 

The Taoiseach is today expected to begin canvassing members of the Fianna Fail parliamentary party for their support in tomorrow’s vote of confidence in him as leader.

Last night the Foreign Affairs Minister’s effectively launched a heave against Brian Cowen – saying a change of leadership is needed.

Micheál Martin’s offered his resignation to the Taoiseach, though he says Mr Cowen says it’s not necessary.

Defence Minister and North Clare native Tony Killeen believes Brian Cowen is paying the price for putting the country first, and adds that he has no plans to turn his back on the man who promoted him to cabinet.

Minister Killeen says his support for the Taoiseach won’t waver
