Clare Fianna fail accused of collaboration in removal of Shannon Heathrow flights

 

Fianna Fail TDs in the Mid West have been accused of "collaboration" in the removal of the Shannon -Heathrow service from the region.

The charge was levelled by the Labour Leader Eamon Gilmore while on a visit to Ennis and Killaloe yesterday afternoon.

In 2007 Aer Lingus announced it was pulling its London Heathrow connection from Shannon Airport which took effect in 2008 severing connectivity from the Mid West , however most of those services have since been restored by the former national carrier.

Outlining the Labour Party’s vision to develop Shannon and its hinterland Eamon Gilmore told Clare Fm that he belives that local Fianna Fail representatives played a role in the neglect of the airport
