Clare smokers spend an average of over 2,700 euro per year on cigarettes.
New research has also shown that 27% of Clare men, and 22% of Clare women smoke, and that both figures are higher than the national average.
Smokers here consume an average of 19 cigarettes per day, costing 228 euro a month or 2,736 euro per year.

The research carried out by Aviva Health Insurance shows that the life expectancy of smokers falls by 10-15 due to the habit, and that residents in Clare are particularly at threat with only three counties having a higher proportion of smokers.
