Enda Kenny has been elected as the 12th Taoiseach in the history of the state.
In his acceptance speech to the Dail this afternoon, the Taoiseach promised to lead a government which will deliver a strong future for Ireland, while at the same time remaining open and honest.
An anxious wait now begins for those hoping for a call-up to the new Cabinet.

The Taoiseach is travelling to Aras an Uachtarain to get his seal of office from President McAleese, after which he will unveil his cabinet line-up.
Analysts feel it’s unlikely that any of Clare’s three Government representatives will receive a ministerial portfolio.
