There are hopes that the US President Barack Obama will use Shannon Airport on his forthcoming trip to Ireland.
It has been confirmed this week that President Obama is to visit Mayo, Kilkenny and Offaly this May, and local representatives are hopeful that he will add a stop in Clare by using the MidWest Airport.
President George W Bush famously stayed in Clare on the last occasion a US President visited Ireland, while Presidents Reagan and Kennedy have also set foot on Clare soil by using Shannon Airport.

Shannon Councillor Sean McLoughlin is hoping to add President Obama to that list.
