The Clare County Manager is today expected to recommend that councillors approve controversial plans for a 6 million pier redevelopment at Doolin.

A revised blue print for the project is due to be put before members of Clare County Council and if given the green light, construction’s expected to begin without delay.
The project has come under fire from the local surfing community, who fear it will impact on the area’s world famous waves, but it has received the backing of the Doolin Coastguard,and local ferry operators as well as other local groups
A simple majority of the 32 councillors is required to vote the plan through – local representative Richard Nagle is confident that North Clare is set to receive a significant boost.
