Almost two thousand competitors and thousands more spectators have turned out in Newmarket on Fergus today to take part in the Pakie Ryan memorial event.
It’s the second year of the charity run, walk and cycle organised to honour the memory of popular local man Pakie Ryan who died from cancer two years ago at the age of 34.
Pakie was well know in Shannon and Newmarket on Fergus for his active community involvement and his contribution to local hurling and soccer clubs in particular, and today’s event will support TLC for Cystic Fibrosis, the Mid-West Cancer Centre and the Clare Crusaders.

Among those taking part today is well known former World Champion Boxer Bernard Dunne.
